In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful | | بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
we sent noah to his nation, saying: 'give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them. ' (1) | | إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَى قَوْمِهِ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ﴿1﴾ |
he said: 'my nation, i am a clear warner for you. (2) | | قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ ﴿2﴾ |
worship allah, fear him, and obey me. (3) | | أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ ﴿3﴾ |
he will forgive you your sins and respite you till an appointed term. when the term of allah arrives it cannot be deferred; if you but knew. ' (4) | | يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَى أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى إِنَّ أَجَلَ اللَّهِ إِذَا جَاء لَا يُؤَخَّرُ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿4﴾ |
'my lord, ' said he, 'night and day i have called my nation, (5) | | قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِي لَيْلًا وَنَهَارًا ﴿5﴾ |
but my call has only increased them in running away. (6) | | فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَائِي إِلَّا فِرَارًا ﴿6﴾ |
each time i called them so that you might forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and wrapped themselves in their garments, and persisted becoming very proud. (7) | | وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوا أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْا ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا اسْتِكْبَارًا ﴿7﴾ |
i called to them clearly, (8) | | ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًا ﴿8﴾ |
and indeed, i spoke to them both publicly and in secret: (9) | | ثُمَّ إِنِّي أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًا ﴿9﴾ |
"ask for forgiveness of your lord," i said. "surely, he is the forgiver. (10) | | فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّارًا ﴿10﴾ |
he will let loose the sky upon you in abundance (11) | | يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاء عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا ﴿11﴾ |
and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. (12) | | وَيُمْدِدْكُمْ بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَارًا ﴿12﴾ |
what is the matter with you that you do not want the greatness of allah, (13) | | مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًا ﴿13﴾ |
he has created you by stages! (14) | | وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا ﴿14﴾ |
have you not seen how allah created the seven heavens one above the other, (15) | | أَلَمْ تَرَوْا كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ طِبَاقًا ﴿15﴾ |
setting in them the moon as a light and the sun as a lantern? (16) | | وَجَعَلَ الْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا وَجَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا ﴿16﴾ |
allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, (17) | | وَاللَّهُ أَنبَتَكُم مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًا ﴿17﴾ |
and to it he will return you. then, he will bring you forth. (18) | | ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًا ﴿18﴾ |
allah has made the earth spread out for you (19) | | وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًا ﴿19﴾ |
so that you walk in its spacious paths." ' (20) | | لِتَسْلُكُوا مِنْهَا سُبُلًا فِجَاجًا ﴿20﴾ |
noah said: 'my lord, they have rebelled against me and followed he whose wealth and offspring increase him only in loss, (21) | | قَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِي وَاتَّبَعُوا مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ إِلَّا خَسَارًا ﴿21﴾ |
they have devised a mighty plot, (22) | | وَمَكَرُوا مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا ﴿22﴾ |
and said: 'do not renounce your gods, do not leave waddan or suwa'an or yaghutha, or ya'uqa, or nasra. ' (23) | | وَقَالُوا لَا تَذَرُنَّ آلِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلَا سُوَاعًا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًا ﴿23﴾ |
and they have led many astray. (noah supplicated saying): 'allah, do not increase the harmdoers except in error! ' (24) | | وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا كَثِيرًا وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَالًا ﴿24﴾ |
so because of their sins they were drowned and admitted into the fire. they found none to help them other than allah. (25) | | مِمَّا خَطِيئَاتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا فَأُدْخِلُوا نَارًا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا لَهُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَنصَارًا ﴿25﴾ |
and noah (supplicated) saying: 'my lord, do not leave a single unbeliever upon the earth. (26) | | وَقَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ دَيَّارًا ﴿26﴾ |
surely, if you leave them they will mislead your worshipers and father none but the immoral, and unbelievers. (27) | | إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوا إِلَّا فَاجِرًا كَفَّارًا ﴿27﴾ |
forgive me, my lord, and my parents, and whosoever seeks refuge in my house as a believer, and the believers men and women alike, and do not increase the harmdoers except in ruin! ' (28) | | رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًا ﴿28﴾ |
