| | | In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful | | بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ | no, i swear by this country (mecca), (1) | | لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَذَا الْبَلَدِ ﴿1﴾ | and you are a lodger in this country. (2) | | وَأَنتَ حِلٌّ بِهَذَا الْبَلَدِ ﴿2﴾ | and by the giver of birth, and whom he fathered, (3) | | وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ ﴿3﴾ | we created the human in fatigue. (4) | | لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ فِي كَبَدٍ ﴿4﴾ | does he think that none has power over him! (5) | | أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ ﴿5﴾ | he will say: 'i have destroyed a vast wealth. ' (6) | | يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًا ﴿6﴾ | does he think that none has observed him? (7) | | أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ ﴿7﴾ | have we not given him two eyes, (8) | | أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُ عَيْنَيْنِ ﴿8﴾ | a tongue, and two lips, (9) | | وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ ﴿9﴾ | and guided him on the two paths (of good and evil)? (10) | | وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ ﴿10﴾ |
