| | | they were tyrants in the land (11) | | الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلَادِ ﴿11﴾ | and exceeded in corruption therein. (12) | | فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ ﴿12﴾ | (therefore) your lord let loose upon them a scourge of punishment; (13) | | فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ ﴿13﴾ | indeed, your lord is ever watchful. (14) | | إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ ﴿14﴾ | as for man, when his lord tests him by honoring him and favoring him, he says: 'my lord, has honored me. ' (15) | | فَأَمَّا الْإِنسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَأَكْرَمَهُ وَنَعَّمَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكْرَمَنِ ﴿15﴾ | but when he tests him by restricting his provision, he says: 'my lord has humiliated me. ' (16) | | وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ ﴿16﴾ | no! but you show no good to the orphan, (17) | | كَلَّا بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ ﴿17﴾ | nor do you urge one another to feed the needy. (18) | | وَلَا تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ ﴿18﴾ | and you devour the inheritance with greed, (19) | | وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَّمًّا ﴿19﴾ | and you ardently love wealth. (20) | | وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا ﴿20﴾ |
