like pharaoh's people and those before them who belied our revelations; allah seized them in their sinfulness. allah is firm in inflicting punishment. (11) | | كَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ كَذَّبُواْ بِآيَاتِنَا فَأَخَذَهُمُ اللّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَاللّهُ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ ﴿11﴾ |
say to those who disbelieve: 'you shall be overcome and gathered into gehenna (hell), an evil cradling! ' (12) | | قُل لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ سَتُغْلَبُونَ وَتُحْشَرُونَ إِلَى جَهَنَّمَ وَبِئْسَ الْمِهَادُ ﴿12﴾ |
indeed, there was a sign for you in the two armies which met on the battlefield. one was fighting in the way of allah, and another unbelieving. they (the believers) saw with their eyes that they were twice their own number. allah strengthens with his victory whom he will. surely, in that there was a lesson for those possessed of eyes. (13) | | قَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ آيَةٌ فِي فِئَتَيْنِ الْتَقَتَا فِئَةٌ تُقَاتِلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ وَأُخْرَى كَافِرَةٌ يَرَوْنَهُم مِّثْلَيْهِمْ رَأْيَ الْعَيْنِ وَاللّهُ يُؤَيِّدُ بِنَصْرِهِ مَن يَشَاءُ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لَّأُوْلِي الأَبْصَارِ ﴿13﴾ |
decorated for people are the desires of women, offspring, and of heaped up piles of gold and silver, of pedigree horses, cattle, and sown fields. these are the enjoyments of the worldly life, but with allah is the best return. (14) | | زُيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ حُبُّ الشَّهَوَاتِ مِنَ النِّسَاء وَالْبَنِينَ وَالْقَنَاطِيرِ الْمُقَنطَرَةِ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ وَالْخَيْلِ الْمُسَوَّمَةِ وَالأَنْعَامِ وَالْحَرْثِ ذَلِكَ مَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَاللّهُ عِندَهُ حُسْنُ الْمَآبِ ﴿14﴾ |
say: 'shall i tell you of a better thing than that? for the cautious with their lord, theirs shall be gardens underneath which rivers flow, where they shall live for ever, and purified spouses, and pleasure from allah. ' allah is watching over his worshipers. (15) | | قُلْ أَؤُنَبِّئُكُم بِخَيْرٍ مِّن ذَلِكُمْ لِلَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا وَأَزْوَاجٌ مُّطَهَّرَةٌ وَرِضْوَانٌ مِّنَ اللّهِ وَاللّهُ بَصِيرٌ بِالْعِبَادِ ﴿15﴾ |
those are they who say: 'lord, we believe in you, forgive us our sins and save us from the punishment of the fire', (16) | | الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ ﴿16﴾ |
who are patient, truthful, obedient, and charitable, and who ask forgiveness at dawn. (17) | | الصَّابِرِينَ وَالصَّادِقِينَ وَالْقَانِتِينَ وَالْمُنفِقِينَ وَالْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ بِالأَسْحَارِ ﴿17﴾ |
allah bears witness that there is no god except he, and so do the angels and the knowledgeable. he upholds justice there is no god except he, the mighty, the wise. (18) | | شَهِدَ اللّهُ أَنَّهُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ وَالْمَلاَئِكَةُ وَأُوْلُواْ الْعِلْمِ قَآئِمًَا بِالْقِسْطِ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ ﴿18﴾ |
the only religion with allah is islam (submission). those to whom the book was given disagreed among themselves only after knowledge had been given to them being insolent among themselves. he who disbelieves the verses of allah indeed allah is swift in reckoning. (19) | | إِنَّ الدِّينَ عِندَ اللّهِ الإِسْلاَمُ وَمَا اخْتَلَفَ الَّذِينَ أُوْتُواْ الْكِتَابَ إِلاَّ مِن بَعْدِ مَا جَاءهُمُ الْعِلْمُ بَغْيًا بَيْنَهُمْ وَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِآيَاتِ اللّهِ فَإِنَّ اللّهِ سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ ﴿19﴾ |
if they argue with you, say: 'i have submitted my face to allah and so have those who follow me. ' to those who have received the book (jews and nazarenes) and to the ignorant, ask: 'have you submitted yourselves to allah? ' if they became muslims they were guided, if they turn away, then your only duty is to warn them. allah is watching over all his worshipers. (20) | | فَإنْ حَآجُّوكَ فَقُلْ أَسْلَمْتُ وَجْهِيَ لِلّهِ وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَنِ وَقُل لِّلَّذِينَ أُوْتُواْ الْكِتَابَ وَالأُمِّيِّينَ أَأَسْلَمْتُمْ فَإِنْ أَسْلَمُواْ فَقَدِ اهْتَدَواْ وَّإِن تَوَلَّوْاْ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْكَ الْبَلاَغُ وَاللّهُ بَصِيرٌ بِالْعِبَادِ ﴿20﴾ |
