In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful | | بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
read (prophet muhammad) in the name of your lord who created, (1) | | اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ ﴿1﴾ |
created the human from a (blood) clot. (2) | | خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ ﴿2﴾ |
read! your lord is the most generous, (3) | | اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ ﴿3﴾ |
who taught by the pen, (4) | | الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ ﴿4﴾ |
taught the human what he did not know. (5) | | عَلَّمَ الْإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ ﴿5﴾ |
indeed, surely the human is very insolent (6) | | كَلَّا إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَيَطْغَى ﴿6﴾ |
that he sees himself sufficed. (7) | | أَن رَّآهُ اسْتَغْنَى ﴿7﴾ |
indeed, to your lord is the returning. (8) | | إِنَّ إِلَى رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَى ﴿8﴾ |
what do you think? have you seen he who forbids (9) | | أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَى ﴿9﴾ |
a worshiper when he prays. (10) | | عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّى ﴿10﴾ |
have you seen if he was upon guidance (11) | | أَرَأَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَى ﴿11﴾ |
or orders piety? (12) | | أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَى ﴿12﴾ |
what do you think? have you seen if he belies and turns away, (13) | | أَرَأَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى ﴿13﴾ |
does he not know that allah sees? (14) | | أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَى ﴿14﴾ |
indeed, if he does not desist, we will seize him by the forelock, (15) | | كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ ﴿15﴾ |
a lying, sinful forelock. (16) | | نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ ﴿16﴾ |
so, let him call upon his way! (17) | | فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَه ﴿17﴾ |
we, will call the zabania (the harsh angels of hell). (18) | | سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ ﴿18﴾ |
no, indeed; do not obey him! prostrate and come nearer (to allah). (19) | | كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ ﴿19﴾ |
