those whom you invoke, other than him, cannot help you, nor can they help themselves. ' (197) | | وَالَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَكُمْ وَلآ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنْصُرُونَ ﴿197﴾ |
if you call them to guidance, they will not hear you. you see them looking towards you, but they cannot see. (198) | | وَإِن تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى الْهُدَى لاَ يَسْمَعُواْ وَتَرَاهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَهُمْ لاَ يُبْصِرُونَ ﴿198﴾ |
accept the easing, order with fine jurisprudence, and avoid the ignorant. (199) | | خُذِ الْعَفْوَ وَأْمُرْ بِالْعُرْفِ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْجَاهِلِينَ ﴿199﴾ |
when satan provokes you seek refuge in allah; he is the hearing, the knowing. (200) | | وَإِمَّا يَنزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَزْغٌ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللّهِ إِنَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ ﴿200﴾ |
indeed, when a visitation of satan touches the cautious (worshipers) they remember, and then see clearly. (201) | | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَواْ إِذَا مَسَّهُمْ طَائِفٌ مِّنَ الشَّيْطَانِ تَذَكَّرُواْ فَإِذَا هُم مُّبْصِرُونَ ﴿201﴾ |
and their brothers, they prolong them in error, and they will never stop. (202) | | وَإِخْوَانُهُمْ يَمُدُّونَهُمْ فِي الْغَيِّ ثُمَّ لاَ يُقْصِرُونَ ﴿202﴾ |
when you do not bring them a verse, they say, 'why have you not chosen one? ' say: 'i follow only what is revealed to me from my lord. this (koran) is a veritable proof from your lord, guidance and mercy for people who believe. ' (203) | | وَإِذَا لَمْ تَأْتِهِم بِآيَةٍ قَالُواْ لَوْلاَ اجْتَبَيْتَهَا قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَتَّبِعُ مَا يِوحَى إِلَيَّ مِن رَّبِّي هَذَا بَصَآئِرُ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿203﴾ |
when the koran is recited, listen to it in silence in order that allah has mercy upon you. (204) | | وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُواْ لَهُ وَأَنصِتُواْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ ﴿204﴾ |
remember your lord in your soul with humility and fear, and not with a loud voice, morning and evening, and do not be among the inattentive. (205) | | وَاذْكُر رَّبَّكَ فِي نَفْسِكَ تَضَرُّعًا وَخِيفَةً وَدُونَ الْجَهْرِ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ بِالْغُدُوِّ وَالآصَالِ وَلاَ تَكُن مِّنَ الْغَافِلِينَ ﴿205﴾ |
those who are with your lord are not too proud to worship him. they exalt him and to him they prostrate. (206) | | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ عِندَ رَبِّكَ لاَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِ وَيُسَبِّحُونَهُ وَلَهُ يَسْجُدُونَ ﴿206﴾ |
