| | | In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful | | بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ | he frowned and turned away (1) | | عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّى ﴿1﴾ | when the blind came to him. (2) | | أَن جَاءهُ الْأَعْمَى ﴿2﴾ | and what could let you know? perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. (3) | | وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُ يَزَّكَّى ﴿3﴾ | (he might) remember, and the reminder might profit him. (4) | | أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ الذِّكْرَى ﴿4﴾ | as for he who is sufficed (5) | | أَمَّا مَنِ اسْتَغْنَى ﴿5﴾ | you attended to him, (6) | | فَأَنتَ لَهُ تَصَدَّى ﴿6﴾ | although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. (7) | | وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّى ﴿7﴾ | and to him who came to you eagerly (8) | | وَأَمَّا مَن جَاءكَ يَسْعَى ﴿8﴾ | and fearfully, (9) | | وَهُوَ يَخْشَى ﴿9﴾ | of him you were unmindful. (10) | | فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّى ﴿10﴾ |
